oh happy day and news!

Friends, I have been really enjoying making my hearts, madly! I am using a new cotton as I need to source the previous one again. But I like the effect, and it makes for a change! I will be popping these in my shop as they emerge.

My news is that I have decided to take a break over the summer. Possibly for the whole of August. Maybe I will drop in here and there and carry on posting to flickr and updating my shop. The hearts, soon to become garlands will be keeping my creative hands busy, but my mind needs to empty out and become fully present in my life right now.

I have been pondering some questions lately, which I will share with you;

How am I really feeling?

Who am I now?

What do I do?

How do I spend my time?

What do I want to put into my little red suitcase, or take out?

Am I making the best of where I live?

How can I be more present in my sons life more?

The truth is we are having some difficult times and I feel like I need to get right behind him and show up more.

.......phew heavy stuff .......I'm also hoping to see the sea at some point this summer and plan on finding my way back to some kind of self-care routine, local leisure center here I come!

Enjoy the holidays, catch you here and there,

Heather

  2. apart from the son bit, I would be v interested to see how you answer those q's.... I am guessing that its not only me or you that have these thoughts, and I often wonder how people solve these q's of life? I will be reading here avidly to see what others say too! I can never think of a answer no matter how much I think about it all!

hope you have a wonderful break, and those hearts are so sweet!

  7. "A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor" - whatever happens you will get through this time and be all the stronger for it. Look after yourself and your son and fit in that trip to the sea, it will be worth it!!

  12. By doing this, you are showing exactly just how healthy you are Heather, as it's always good to reflect and it's always good to keep yourself grounded... Also... I can relate to boy trouble, my oldest 2 boys have left home and there were never really any huge issues with those two, as they were easy to raise, but my 3rd, when he was the age of 14, 15 and some of 16... OI VEY! He gave me a run for my money, he even managed to get himself arrested at one point! Which was devastating to me, I took it personally as a mother. He's going to be 17 in 3 weeks though, and things are going well, I did what you are doing and I made myself as present in his life as possible, I even moved cities to get him away from his dodgy friends... But all I have to say is, personally as a woman and a mother, you're doing the right thing Heather and I completely admire you for it.
I do hope you get to the sea, there is nothing like going to the ocean.
Have a great week my friend,
    Tammy
PS... May I have your address? I'd like to mail you a little something xx

  20. Take care, Heather! Sometimes a digital break helps to eliminate distractions. You'll know when you're ready to come back.

You'll find the answers. Of that I'm sure.

  21. Stepping away sometimes is best. I took an unplanned blog break last month, and it was needed for all that was happening in my life. I hope you enjoy investing in what is needed for now.

  22. Hello friend. I want to address the question of how many? How many blogs can one follow and feel connected with? For me it is three or four. Wish it was more. There are so many wonderful inspiring women creating beautiful blogs full of excellent photos and stimulating thoughts. But when I do have the urge to sit a spell and see what others are up to, you have been one of my regular stops for the past year. I totally relate to the numbers/validation thing. My interest in my blog waned a while back as I saw others taking off in readership numbers while mine sat, rather stagnant. But then the question begs to be asked, for whom and I writing? I decided it was for me. And that has removed the pressure to produce for an audience. So if I don't
t write for a month (or more?) it's all good. I will blog when I have something that I want recorded. I hope you will find satisfaction in you own answers quickly. I agree with Tammy, above that is it good to reflect on these things but in the long run, I have to line up with Anne-Marie. It is better to just be.
